As part of this exercise, the company has decided to recall over 9,600 units of its small car Micra, which were produced in India in 2011 and sold in Europe, the official added.
Nissan currently imports X-Trail and 370Z coupe as completely built unit.
The company's wholly-owned subsidiary -- Nissan Motor India Private Ltd -- had launched the Micra in July and priced the car between Rs 398,000 and Rs 529,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Japanese auto major Nissan on Wednesday said it is discontinuing Datsun brand in India, nine years after the company kicked off the marque's global relaunch in the country. Having failed in its ambitious global relaunch of Datsun, Nissan had in 2020 discontinued the brand in Russia and Indonesia, the other two countries along with South Africa and India which were marked as key markets targeting the entry level car segment. Confirming the move to discontinue the Datsun brand, Nissan India in a statement said, "Production of Datsun redi-GO has ceased at the Chennai plant (Renault Nissan Automotive India Private Ltd). "Sales of the model still continue (till the stock lasts)."
Hyundai Motor and Toyota Kirloskar Motor have announced the suspension of manufacturing operations at their respective plants amid coronavirus outbreak. On Sunday, various automakers like Maruti Suzuki India, Honda Cars, Mahindra & Mahindra and Fiat announced a temporary halt in manufacturing operations at their respective facilities.
